Linden
Linden is a heavy wood, not differentiated whitish or slightly yellowish-cream uniform; it darkens slightly with exposure to air.
The longitudinal surfaces appear silky, with barely visible veins.
The texture is very fine and the grain is straight.
Technological properties
The lime tree is characterized by a soft wood, not resistant to bending and yielding. Withdrawals are medium and dimensional stability is good. It works easily and brings good results with planing.
Linden wood is not resistent to fungi and is not resistant to insect attacks, but is easily impregnable even in the heartwood.
Use
Wood appreciated for the workability and the ease with which it can be dyed and painted. It is intended for fine carving and carpentry work for the production of interior furnishings.
Used for the production of toys, frames, parts of musical instruments, brush handles and sculptures. It also provides an excellent wood wool.
Typical defects
Greenish spots and color variations, it can also be stained in contact with metals, vulnerable to insects, mites and fungi.
