The wooden floor can be laid out in many ways and it is necessary to take into account the personal taste, the aims and the furnishing styles that you envisage. But not only that, we also have to evaluate any constraints that could be found in the floor installation environment.
To find out which one is best suited to your needs, let’s examine the possible installation combinations for the parquet of your rooms.
UNEVEN FORMWORK
The uneven formwork, also called running pose, is the most used type of installation and can be done both with massive and prefinished floors, with or without interlocking, even of large size.
Suitable for any type of environment and furnishing style, it is based on single elements, even of different extension, arranged in the direction of the length, so that the head junctions are irregular and varied with respect to each other.
The irregular formwork laying can be right, with the pieces parallel to the wall, or diagonal, with an inclination of the pieces of 45° or 30° compared to the walls. The diagonal laying can help to correct environments with irregular walls or strong out-of-squares.
REGULAR FORMWORK
The laying of the regular formwork parquet allows you to draw very regular and modern geometries and is suitable for both solid and prefinished floors, with or without interlocking, even in large formats.
It has an excellent aesthetic performance, especially when the wood has few knots and not very rustic processes are chosen. The axes all have the same length and width and are usually arranged along the length so that all the head joints match, so that the butt joints are in the same center line or in any case in a constant position with respect to each list of the previous row.
The regular formwork laying can be done in a straight and diagonal way, in this case it can help to correct environments with irregular walls or comfort.
ITALIAN HERRINGBONE 90° PATTERN
The Italian herringbone pattern design is a very classic design, which was used in the Italian aristocratic palaces of the years 30s up to the early 70s.
Suitable for a classic and refined environment, to enhance the room with this type of installation you need to direct the direction of the design from the entrance to the back wall. The individual elements, with constant width and length, are arranged perpendicular to each other at an angle of 90°.
The effect of the Italian herringbone installation is also recommended to make smaller rooms feel larger because it prevents a perfect perception of the space and the dimensions of the environments in which it is located.
45° HUNGARIAN BONE
The Hungarian herringbone pattern is very similar to the classic Italian one but the elements that compose it have short sides cut at 45° from the long sides.
Also known as “an Hangherian way”, it was widely used in the prestigious noble and bourgeois residences of 17th and 19th century Europe.
This type of design is recommended for enhancing rustic, worked, bleached, gray and naturalized woods: the result will be an environment with a contemporary charm but with a memory of the ancient floors.
Usually, in fact, is installed in environments of particular value: it is not by chance that we find it installed in the Palace of Versailles. It is a layout that has returned, in recent years, a protagonist in the world of wooden floors.
MULTI-WIDTH FRENCH LAYOUT
The multi-width French layout is a straight pose with irregular formwork, its peculiarity is the use of elements with different widths and lengths.
Made with elements in large dimensions, with a rustic and very worked way, it gives its maximum splendor making the environment unique and very welcoming.
BINARY LAYOUT
The binary layout is a very particular choice that fits perfectly in modern and original environments.
It can be made with solid or pre-finished floors, it can be used in large formats and with a selection of low-level and poorly worked tables.
The tables form a kind of railway track: a row of parallel tables arranged horizontally, and, at their ends, a row of vertical planks.
THE SQUARES
The checkered parquet is characterized by single square-sized tiles that juxtaposed to each other give a unique and particular design.
Suitable for a refined and original enviroment, the parquet boards are composed of small wooden blocks whose combinations of shapes and essences can be endless, assembled together to compose a design. After laying the same geometry will be repeated on the entire floor with a particularly pleasant optical effect.
Performed straight or diagonally, this pose is not suitable for any off-team walls. It can be combined with band and rib.
LAYING WITH SCREWS FIXING
The installation with fixing screws is the classic installation used for a long time and suitable for any type of floor.
It appears fast and economical: in fact, the plank will not need any work before to installation but only a simple pre-drilling to facilitate the insertion of the screws.
Naturally, the screws and their holes will remain visible, even if on the market there are screws of different colors to camouflage them with the floor.
LAYING WITH CLIP
The installation with fixing by clips is chosen when we want to obtain a clean aesthetic result, thanks to the fact that the clips positioned under the planks are not visible to the eye.
In this case it is necessary to mill the plank before the installation to allow the clips to be interlocked.
